About Us
Our Mission
News should work for the community — not algorithms, not outside interests, and not profit. The Bountiful Forum is built on a simple idea: give people clear, trustworthy information about what’s happening around them.
We’re also trying something different. This is a free, volunteer-driven effort. No paywalls. No subscriptions. No financial ties shaping what gets covered. Just people working together to keep the community informed. Volunteer journalism is our way of pushing back on some of the biggest problems in today’s media — less noise, more substance, and a stronger connection to the people actually living here.
What you can expect:
Accurate, verified information
Straightforward, easy-to-read reporting
Coverage focused on what matters in Bountiful
Accountability for local leaders and institutions
A place for real community voices
What you won’t find:
Clickbait or sensationalism
Endless filler content
Paywalls or hidden costs
At the end of the day, this is about keeping you informed without wasting your time — and building a stronger, more connected community in the process.
We hope this helps!

Tyler Nelson/Founder
Tyler was born and raised in Brigham City and developed an early love for writing, from storytelling to reading about people and communities around the world. While serving a mission in Russia, he gained a deep appreciation for journalism and the role of a free press after witnessing firsthand the impact of limited access to information and restricted speech.
That experience shaped his long-term commitment to public information and community-focused reporting. He went on to work with the Deseret News, where his writing reached a broad audience, before founding The Bountiful Forum, a local volunteer outlet dedicated to covering news and events in the community.
Tyler does this for the love of it. His full time job is a Communications Coordinator in the Elections Office for the Salt Lake County Clerk, continuing his commitment to transparency and civic engagement. He lives in Bountiful with his family and remains invested in helping the community stay informed.
