The Bountiful High School Boys Basketball team played their hearts out on Friday night, but in the end it wasn’t quite enough to topple the Olympus Titans.

After a solid playoff run, beating Payson by 15, Alta by 14, and Pleasant Grove by 13, the Redhawks looked ready to take the two-time reigning champions for the third time this season. The two teams’ meetings this season both ended in victories for Olympus.

The game was a fight from the start, with both teams trading buckets all the way until halftime, with Bountiful leading 27-26. The third quarter saw a bit of a drop off in scoring for Bountiful, which Olympus used to swing the momentum in their favor. After a tie at 39-39, the Titans pulled ahead, hitting big shots and being steady at the free throw line in the final minutes to stick out the win.

The Redhawks put up a great fight against a Colossal Olympus squad. On the way to their third state championship in a row, the Titans only lost two games this season, one by one point, and another by six. Though the final score doesn’t show it, the two teams traded the lead all game, and Bountiful never let Olympus get more than four points ahead until the final minute of the game.
