They’ve done it! The Bountiful High School girls soccer team has captured the 5A state championship! After years of coming heartbreakingly close — with back-to-back championship game appearances in 2022 and 2023 and a semifinal run in 2024 — the Redhawks finally broke through with a 2-1 victory over Olympus at America First Field in Sandy on Friday afternoon.
Before the championship game, a group of Bountiful parents and school staff gathered to give the girls soccer team a special sendoff. They decorated the team bus with signs and balloons, cheered as the players boarded, and wished them luck on their trip to Sandy. The energy and support from the community set the tone for the day as the Redhawks prepared to chase a long-awaited title.
In the 5A state final at America First Field, Bountiful faced the Titans for the third time this season (Olympus won the first two matchups). The Titans took an early lead in the 15th minute on a 35-yard free kick. Down 1-0 at halftime, the Redhawks made adjustments and came out stronger in the second half. Myka Page tied the game in the 64th minute off a header assist from Belle Sorensen, and soon after, Sorensen scored the winning goal from a pass by Page.
When the final whistle blew, Bountiful players, coaches, and fans erupted in celebration. A few minutes later, the Redhawks hoisted the 2025 5A Girls Soccer trophy at center field together as champions.
