A local Bountiful business is recovering after a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of April 15, prompting a community-led fundraising effort to help offset losses.
According to a post from the owner of Annie’s Cafe, Andrea Bennett (Annie), the incident began when she received a notification that the restaurant’s front door had been opened. She called 911 while on her way to the cafe, and officers with the Bountiful Police Department responded to the scene.
Police later confirmed that two individuals had forced entry into the restaurant. Security cameras were damaged during the break-in, but footage showed the suspects inside the building. Items taken included safes and other property, resulting in what the owner described as a significant financial loss.
Annie expressed appreciation for law enforcement, noting that officers and detectives worked throughout the day investigating the incident.
The cafe, a longstanding local business, has built a reputation in the community not only as a restaurant but as a gathering space. In the past, the owners have also been recognized for supporting others in need, including giving out meals during Thanksgiving that showcased their willingness to give back to the community.
In response to the break-in, a fundraiser has been organized by one of the cafe’s managers to assist with recovery efforts. The campaign aims to help cover the cost of repairs, replace stolen items, and support the business as it rebuilds.
