Our Mission: We Are Going To Fix The News
To our community,
Journalism was always meant to serve the people — to give citizens the information they need to stay informed, hold power accountable, and take part in their communities. But somewhere along the way in the last few years, that mission has gotten lost. Too much of today’s news is shaped by outside interests, corporate advertising models, and algorithms that reward outrage over understanding.
At The Bountiful Forum, I want to bring journalism back to its roots. That means cutting out the noise — no more clickbait, no more churning out empty stories for ad revenue, no more sensationalism or filler. News should inform, not exploit. It should engage, not gatekeep. And above all, it should connect, not divide.
I believe local journalism is the foundation of an informed society. Here at The Forum, we’ll cover state, national, and even world issues when they matter, but always from the home base of Bountiful — through the lens of the people who live here. I want this to be a place where every voice can be heard, and more than that, amplified — where opinions from our own neighbors carry weight.
We’ll work with local businesses to help strengthen the local economy. We’ll report honestly and fairly, without political bias or financial influence. We’ll stay committed to covering what’s true and what’s real — not what sells the most ads or serves an outside agenda.
There will be no paywalls, no paid subscriptions, and no preying on your need to know what is going on in the world. We are going to kill combative culture. We don’t need more shouting matches. We need shared understanding. We all want the same things: a healthy, informed, and connected community.
It’s time to return to journalism that starts on the ground, grows from real conversations, and works for the people it serves. That’s what The Forum stands for — news built from the ground up.
Sincerely,
Tyler Nelson
