Bountiful City is preparing to fill a vacant seat on the City Council following the move of Councilmember Kate Bradshaw to Mayor in January 2026.
According to a public notice released by the city, the Bountiful City Council plans to interview for a replacement during a meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Bountiful City Hall. The meeting will be open to the public, and community members are welcome to attend.
The vacancy is open to interested residents who meet several eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be a United States citizen
- A registered voter within the municipality
- Have lived in Bountiful for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the appointment
- Applicants also may not be a convicted felon unless their right to hold elective office has been restored.
Those interested in applying must submit an application and a declaration of candidacy to the Bountiful City Recorder or Deputy Recorder at City Hall, located at 795 South Main Street, during normal business hours. Completed applications must be physically received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025. All submitted materials will become part of the public record.
The appointed councilmember will serve through December 2027. Anyone wishing to continue serving beyond that term would need to run for office in the 2027 municipal election.
City officials encourage qualified residents who are interested in local government and civic service to consider applying.
