Viewmont High Boys Soccer ended up on the wrong side of a 6-0 result against Alta High School on Thursday, March 19.
Alta started the match quickly, scoring in the 10th minute from a low cross. The ball passed by the Viewmont goalkeeper for an easy tap-in. Viewmont came up big with two saves, blocking shots from distance, pushing one over the bar, and collecting the second. However, before the end of the first half, Alta would find two more goals for 3-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Viewmont protected the deficit with a goal line clearance after a scramble in front of the goal left the ball rolling toward goal behind the keeper, but a Viewmont defender stepped in for the clearance.
Despite a late second-half rally, Viewmont conceded three more goals in the second half, with its own best chance coming late on a cross and shot that fell right into the Alta keeper’s hands.
Viewmont will have a rematch with the Hawks on April 21 at Alta.
