Hello Bountiful residents, and welcome to The Bountiful Forum!

The Bountiful Forum (or The Forum, for short) is a new civic journalism outlet created right here in Bountiful, for Bountiful. It’s a space for our community to stay informed, ask questions, and engage with the people and issues shaping the place we call home.

What We’re Doing

Two thousand years ago, the Roman Forum was the beating heart of Rome’s civic life—a place where citizens gathered to debate laws, conduct business, participate in religious ceremonies, and celebrate the life of the city. It was where public decisions were made, commerce thrived, and citizens connected with one another. In many ways, it was the foundation of an informed and engaged society.

Kicking off in October 2025, The Bountiful Forum aims to bring that same spirit to our city. Like the Roman Forum, we seek to be a gathering place for ideas, dialogue, and action—strengthening civic and community life through local reporting, community engagement, and open conversation.

We will focus on three main areas:

  • Civic Life – Coverage of local government, education, public safety, and the Bountiful economy.

  • Community – Stories about local events, healthcare, culture, recreation, sports, and religion—the fabric of everyday life in Bountiful.

  • Voices – Our most important function: you. This section will feature Opinion, Perspective, and Discussion pieces, providing a platform for residents to share ideas, debate issues, and participate in community-wide conversations.

At The Forum, we prioritize the information that directly impacts residents—city decisions, community projects, elections, public safety, local economy, and the people who make Bountiful what it is. Our goal is to bridge the gap between citizen and citizen, and citizen and city, in a way that is clear, comprehensive, and actionable.

About Me

My name is Tyler Nelson, and I am the founder, reporter, and editor of The Forum. I’m a native Utahn, raised in Brigham City, who served a two-year LDS mission in Russia. After living in Utah County for six years, I moved to Bountiful in the spring of 2025.

I’ve worked in journalism for several years, including a year with LDSDaily and three years as an editor and reporter with the Deseret News. I started this project because I believe journalism should return to its roots: both the Roman idea of the forum as a place for public engagement and the founding elements of journalism in the United States, which are to inform citizens, hold power accountable, and provide a platform for public discourse. Bountiful deserves consistent, trustworthy coverage that prioritizes facts, fairness, and service to the community.

I’ve seen how difficult it can be to find accurate local information and how transformative it is when residents feel informed, connected, and heard. My goal is to build a publication that listens to the community, reports with integrity, and helps all of us shape our shared future.

Thank you for reading and engaging with The Bountiful Forum. If you have five minutes, please hop over to this page to take a survey of what kind of news you would like.

I look forward to hearing from you and growing this community together!
